a small update. i live in brooklyn. i work in new york. life is great and hell at the same time. i am a designer at hornet inc. and i work close to 10-12 hours a day. boyfriend brenden is in richmond taking care of jeppe, and he visits when he can. we're still together and our relationship is the most amazing thing ever. better than potato pancakes. when he graduates in may he's moving up here to live with me. and then maybe we'll move to france. or spain. or maybe outer space. i am totally in love.

Why does the sun go down?
I ate the sky
Why do we all go away?
I can't believe in butterflies
Think about life
And rainbows and death
And all of the things you've heard

i'm resurrecting a really old post [Aug. 11th, 2008|09:51 pm]
this is from feb. 15, 2005 in this journal:

"who is this man and what does he want?

my studio teacher, paul, went on a rambling today with me about purpose and convention and why we are what we are and why we do the things we do and what our role as artists might be, and questioning everything we have and own and do and think, etc. etc. etc.
i slept so little last night that i only remember a few exact words of his: "the mind is a tangling of associations." i just think that's a different way of saying what we've always been saying.

paul seems to have a lot of interesting ways of putting things. i'll have to write more of them down. they inspire me and give me ideas.

i think i've hit the jackpot. i know i've hit the jackpot. this is my calling in life. i'm going to miss afo. i'm going to love life now.

i'm exhausted. i've got so much to do tonight, and i love it."

Aldous Huxley [Aug. 9th, 2008|10:15 am]
"Is it agreeable?" somebody asked.
"Neither agreeable nor disagreeable," I answered. "it just is." Istigkeit - wasn't that the word Meister Eckhart liked to use? "Is-ness." The Being of Platonic philosophy - except that Plato seems to have made the enormous, the grotesque mistake of separating Being from becoming and identifying it with the mathematical abstraction of the Idea. He could never, poor fellow, have seen a bunch of flowers shining with their own inner light and all but quivering under the pressure of the significance with which they were charged; could never have perceived that what rose and iris and carnation so intensely signified was nothing more, and nothing less, than what they were - a transience that was yet eternal life, a perpetual perishing that was at the same time pure Being, a bundle of minute, unique particulars in which, by some unspeakable and yet self-evident paradox, was to be seen the divine source of all existence.
